The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.
Abstract: ABSTRACT A BIODEGRADABLE FILM COMPOSITE AND A METHOD OF PREPARING THE SAME A thin film composite membrane for water purification comprises a nonwoven backing, a porous polycaprolactone support layer having NaY zeolite and reduced graphene oxide dispersed within its bulk at 0.05 to 0.2 percent (w/v), a polydopamine interlayer functionalised with aminopropyltriethoxysilane, and an aliphatic polyamide selective layer formed by interfacial polymerisation of 1,10-diaminodecane with terephthaloyl chloride. Alkaline activation, polydopamine deposition and aminosilane grafting act in sequence to lower the water contact angle from 70 to 12 to 15 degrees and to anchor a defect free selective layer. At 0.2 percent (w/v) loading the membrane rejects 94 percent of sodium chloride from a 10,000 parts per million feed at 10 bar, rejects 91 to 95 percent of Alizarin Red, Eriochrome Black T and Methylene Blue, rejects approximately 99 percent of chromium, copper and lead ions, reduces the viability of Staphylococcus aureus and of Escherichia coli by more than 97 percent.
