Abstract: The present invention relates to biodegradable film compositions and methods for preparing the same, and more particularly to a neem gum-based biodegradable film comprising a film-forming biopolymer including neem gum, a strengthening agent including carboxymethyl cellulose (CMC), and a plasticizing agent including glycerol. The method comprises preparing a film-forming solution by dissolving neem gum in a solvent medium, adding CMC and glycerol to the solution, casting the resulting film-forming mixture onto a casting surface, and drying the cast solution to obtain a biodegradable film. The developed film exhibits desirable physicochemical and mechanical properties suitable for biodegradable packaging applications. Figure 1 is the representative figure.
