Inventors include Dr. Neelanjana Choudhury; and Barsharani Sethi.
The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.
Abstract: The present invention discloses an injectable phyto-therapeutic formulation for selective induction of cytotoxicity in the breast cancer cell line MCF-7. The formulation comprises a papaya-derived bioactive fraction obtained from Carica papaya, an extract of Azadirachta indica and an extract of Curcuma longa, dispersed in a phosphate buffer maintained at a pH of about 7.4. The formulation is free from synthetic solvents, synthetic carriers, nanoparticles and artificial stabilisers, and is suitable for intravenous administration. A process for preparing the formulation, comprising aqueous extraction, isolation of the papaya-derived fraction and controlled mixing under sterile conditions, is also disclosed. The papaya-derived fraction is obtained by ageing the aqueous extract for about 30 days followed by protein fractionation. The combined components exhibit cytotoxic activity against MCF-7 cells as measured by the MTT assay, with dose-dependent reduction in viability. The formulation provides a simple, biocompatible alternative to conventional naturalproduct anticancer preparations.
