Abstract: ABSTRACT TITLE: A BIOPROSTHETIC HEART VALVE The present invention discloses a bioprosthetic heart valve for replacing diseased aortic or mitral valve. The heart valve has a unique design with a polymer stent (1) and 3 ribs (6) for stitching the leaflets (9) onto the stent (1). The stent (1) and leaflet (9) design has been computationally optimised for maximum effective orifice area while opening and uniform distribution of stresses on the leaflet (9). The leaflet (9) cut from a plane sheet of pericardium and once attached to the stent (1) has curvature only in one direction thus preventing creasing of leaflet (9) during opening and closing.
