MUMBAI, India, July 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511092006 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology Banaras on September 25, 2025, for A Biphasic Aqueous Solvent System For Capturing Of Post-Combustion Carbon Dioxide.
Inventors include Monoj Kumar Mondal; and Sujit Yuvraj Pimple.

Abstract: The present invention relates to a biphasic aqueous solvent system for capturing of post-combustion carbon dioxide. The biphasic aqueous solvent system of the present invention is comprising of triethylenetetramine (TETA), tetramethyl-ethylenediamine (TMEDA) and water, where, the polyamines TETA and TMEDA are in a molar ratios ranging from 0.5:3.5 to 3.5:0.5. Unlike conventional monoamine or blended amine solvent systems, the present invention leverages a synergistic interaction between primary/secondary amines in TETA and the tertiary amine TMEDA, leading to efficient CO2 loading, controlled phase splitting and energy-efficient regeneration.
