MUMBAI, India, June 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541059249 A) filed by Suprajit Engineering Ltd on June 20, 2025, for A Cable-Operated Disc Brake System With An Adjustable Piston.

Inventors include Manoj N; Mahesh M; and Ashutosh Rai.

The application for the patent was published on June 12, 2026, under issue no. 24/2026.

Abstract: A MECHANICAL DISC BRAKE SYSTEM WITH AN ADJUSTABLE PISTON MECHANISM. The system (100) comprises a calliper housing (102) containing an upper cam (202) and a lower cam (204) operatively associated through a ball-and-ramp arrangement to convert brake lever actuation into controlled linear movement of a piston (210) for applying braking force to brake pads. The piston (210) is threadedly coupled to the lower cam (204) to ensure efficient force transmission and consistent braking performance. An integrated adjustment mechanism (201) is provided to compensate for brake pad wear, including cooperating ratchet members (220, 222), an adjuster housing (216), a feedback member (224), springs (228, 230), and a user-actuated knob (234). Rotation of the knob (234) incrementally rotates the piston (210) to adjust pad clearance, while spring elements reset the mechanism (201) after adjustment, enabling reliable and repeatable wear compensation Reference figure: FIG. 14
