Abstract: ABSTRACT A carrier holding device 100 for separating water from moist hydrogen gas that flows from a fuel cell stack is described. The carrier holding device 100 comprises a carrier 110 comprising an outer wall 120 and an inner wall 130, wherein the inner wall 130 surrounds a chamber 140. An inlet is in flow communication with the chamber 140 of the carrier 110 and supplies moist hydrogen gas to the chamber 140. A level sensor 150 is secured to the inner wall of the carrier 110 and senses a level of water that exists in the chamber 140. A purge connector 160 is secured to the inner wall of the carrier 110 and adapted to purge water that is present in the chamber 140. A liquid filter 170 is secured to the inner wall of the carrier 110 and adapted to filter water that is present in the chamber 140.
