MUMBAI, India, Aug. 10 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511081079 A) filed by Harinarayan Recyclers Private Limited on August 27, 2025, for A Catalytic Pyrolysis Method For Producing Fuel Oil From Waste Plastic.

Abstract: Disclosed method (100) includes receiving (102) waste plastic feedstock comprising at least one of polypropylene (PP), polystyrene (PS), high-density polyethylene (HDPE), and low-density polyethylene (LDPE). Further, the method (100) includes introducing (104) a Magnesium Aluminum carbonate-based layered double hydroxide (Mg-Al LDH) catalyst into the waste plastic feedstock. Further, the method (100) includes heating (106) the waste plastic feedstock in a substantially oxygen-free environment at a temperature within a range of 300°C to 400°C to induce selective catalytic cracking of polymer chains into lower molecular weight hydrocarbons. Further, the method (100) includes generating (108) volatilized hydrocarbon products comprising hydrocarbons within a C8-C16 carbon range. Further, the method (100) includes condensing (110) the volatilized hydrocarbon products to obtain a liquid fuel fraction. Further, the method includes collecting (112) the liquid fuel fraction. The method (100) further includes recovering (114) at least 90% of the Mg-Al LDH catalyst after completion of catalytic pyrolysis. FIG. 1 is the reference figure.
