Abstract: The present invention relates to a cognitive attentional method for identifying and mitigating problematic online behaviour in organisational settings through assessment of cognitive distortions, attentional control capacity, and behavioural risk indicators. The method evaluates maladaptive thought patterns comprising catastrophising, personalization, overgeneralisation, magnification, minimization, mind reading, and rigid cognition using a structured psychological assessment. Attentional control is measured through computerized Stroop colour-word interference analysis for determining selective attention and inhibitory control performance. Statistical mediation and bootstrapping analysis establish attentional control as an intermediary cognitive variable linking cognitive distortions with problematic online behaviour comprising compulsive social media usage, cyber-slacking, excessive digital engagement, and internet dependency behaviour. The method generates behavioural risk profiles for cognitive vulnerability classification and facilitates targeted intervention strategies comprising attentional regulation training, digital wellness protocols, occupational mental health programmes, and adult social emotional learning interventions.
