Abstract: The present invention relates to a Cognitive Trust-Aware Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV) System for Disaster Response capable of dynamically evaluating operational reliability during mission execution. The system comprises a multi-sensor perception module, a behavioural monitoring module, a communication reliability module, and a Cognitive Trust Engine (CTE) configured to compute a composite trust index representing the reliability of environmental perception, mechanical system behaviour, and communication stability. The trust index is derived from a tri-layer trust evaluation architecture including perceptual trust, behavioural trust, and relational trust components. Based on the computed trust value, a Dynamic Autonomy Scaling mechanism adjusts UAV operational parameters including navigation behaviour, sensing priority, and mission execution strategy. The system enables UAV platforms to adapt their autonomy levels in response to environmental uncertainty, degraded visual environments, and communication instability. The invention improves the reliability of UAV operations in disaster scenarios, including search-and-rescue missions, infrastructure inspection, and emergency communication support.
