MUMBAI, India, July 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641045004 A) filed by Manipal Academy Of Higher Education on April 08, 2026, for A Compact Fractal Microstrip Antenna With Defected Ground For Multi- Band Wireless Communication.

Abstract: A fractal ground-coupled multi-band microstrip antenna 100, comprises a dielectric substrate 101 with a first planar surface 101A and second planar surface 101B; a microstrip feed conductor 103 on the first planar surface; and a contiguous circular radiating element 105 electrically coupled to the microstrip feed conductor 103. The radiating element 105 incorporates a plurality of slot apertures 107 arranged in a fractalized layout 113 to extend effective surface-current paths and support multiple resonant modes. A partial ground conductor 109 on the second planar surface 101B includes a defected ground feature 111 that perturbs return currents to provide intrinsic impedance tuning and bandwidth control. The single-layer, patterned construction is compatible with standard printed-circuit fabrication and enables compact multi-band wireless integration with repeatable manufacturing and high reproducibility.
