Abstract: A COMPOSITION AND METHOD FOR SUSTAINED-RELEASE DRY POWDER INHALER USING A POLYMERIC PARTICULATE MATRIX The invention discloses a sustained-release dry powder inhalation formulation developed for pulmonary delivery of a bronchodilator for management of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. The invention provides a particulate-based inhalation system configured to achieve controlled drug release, improve formulation performance, and enhance suitability for capsule-based dry powder inhaler administration. The formulation is prepared through a controlled particle-engineering process followed by drying, powder blending, and inhalation dosage-form preparation. The invention further includes optimization of formulation and process variables to obtain desirable particle characteristics, drug entrapment, loading efficiency, powder flow, solubility enhancement, and in-vitro release behavior. By integrating controlled-release formulation design with inhalation-compatible powder processing, the invention provides an improved pulmonary drug-delivery platform intended to reduce repeated dosing burden and support better therapeutic performance in long-term respiratory treatment.
