Abstract: The present invention relates to aluminum-doped mixed transition metal ferrite compositions and methods for their synthesis, specifically designed for the removal of organic dye contaminants from wastewater. The composition comprises a ferrite matrix with a transition metal selected from iron, cobalt, or nickel, into which aluminum is incorporated to enhance adsorption capacity and magnetic properties. The aluminum-doped ferrite exhibits a specific surface area ranging from 50 to 200 m²/g, facilitating effective dye adsorption and magnetic separation from aqueous solutions. The synthesis method involves a solution combustion process, where metal precursors are dissolved in a solvent, combined with a fuel, and subjected to combustion to form single-phase nanomaterials with particle sizes between 10 to 100 nanometers. The molar ratio of aluminum to transition metals is optimized between 0.1:1 to 0.5:1 to maximize adsorption efficiency. Additionally, the composition may include rare earth dopants to improve thermal stability and reusability.
