Abstract: The present invention relates to a contactless oil spill detection system (100) for real-time monitoring of thin-film oil spills and micro- spills in marine and water environments. The system (100) comprises an infrared sensing module (102), an optical sensing module (104), an ultrasonic stability verification module (106), a geolocation module (108), a processing unit (110), and a communication module (112). The infrared sensing module (102) detects thermal emissivity anomalies between oil films and surrounding water surfaces, while the optical sensing module (104) detects thin-film interference patterns associated with oil contamination. The ultrasonic stability verification module (106) validates calm-surface conditions to suppress false-positive detections caused by wave motion and glare. The processing unit (110) executes tri-modal sensor-fusion logic for spill confirmation and transmits real-time geotagged alerts through an IoT communication framework. The invention enables low-cost, continuous, autonomous, and non- contact environmental monitoring for marine spill detection applications.
