MUMBAI, India, June 22 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202631071543 A) filed by National Institute Of Technology Silchar on June 09, 2026, for A Continuously Curved Oscillating Water Column Chamber For Improved Hydrodynamic Performance And Wave Energy Conversion.

Inventor includes Roy, Dr. Pradip Deb.

The application for the patent was published on June 12, 2026, under issue no. 24/2026.

Abstract: A CONTINUOUSLY CURVED OSCILLATING WATER COLUMN CHAMBER FOR IMPROVED HYDRODYNAMIC PERFORMANCE AND WAVE ENERGY CONVERSION The present invention relates to an oscillating water column wave energy conversion system comprising an oscillating water column chamber (100) defined by side walls (104), a lip wall (102), a base wall (112), and an orifice (106). The chamber includes a front opening configured to permit entry and exit of incident waves (200) and a continuously curved bottom profile (114) extending upwardly from the base wall toward an interior portion of the chamber. The continuously curved bottom profile comprises a physically fabricated non-linear hydrodynamic contour having continuously varying curvature and one or more curvature-transition regions configured to guide wave-induced water motion within the chamber. Oscillatory movement of a water column within the chamber generates alternating pneumatic pressure and bidirectional airflow through the orifice. The chamber may operate with a relative opening parameter (202) and predetermined orifice ratios for evaluating hydrodynamic and pneumatic response characteristics under incident wave conditions.
