Abstract: The present invention provides a control system (10) for a sprayer (2) and method of operation thereof wherein a foliage detector (22) scans a vegetation index (Vg) for a vehicle location point (A, A1) and a sprayer location point (B, B1) of the sprayer (2) is ascertained. A processor (24) computes a time interval (t) for the sprayer location point (B, B1) of the sprayer (2) to coincide with the vehicle location point (A, A1) of the work vehicle (1). Thereafter, one or more of the nozzles (3, 4, 5) are triggered to spray an agricultural substance on a plantation (8), corresponding to the vegetation index (Vg) at the vehicle location point (A, A1). The control system (10) facilitates in spraying optimum amount of the agricultural substance on the foliage (8), based on density of the foliage, thereby preventing wastage of the agricultural substance.
