Abstract: A CONTROLLER TO CONTROL OPERATION OF AN INVERTER IN A VEHICLE AND METHOD THEREOF ABSTRACT The system 100 in the vehicle comprises an electric machine 102 coupled to crankshaft of an engine of the vehicle. The electric machine 102 is powered by a battery 106 through the inverter 104. The inverter 104 is connected to and operated by the controller 110. The inverter 104 comprises semiconductor switches, the rectifier and DC-DC converter along with the electronics unit necessary for processing the electrical signal in order to operate the electric machine 102. The controller 110 configured to monitor a position signal 116 from an engine position sensor 112, and a voltage signal 114 of the battery 106, characterized in that, the controller 110 configured to detect a battery-less condition based on a co-relation between the position signal 116 and the voltage signal 114, and switch operation of the inverter 104 to limp-home mode upon detection of the battery-less condition.
