MUMBAI, India, June 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202431025989 A) filed by Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited on March 29, 2024, for A Cross Over Pipe For A Steam Turbine Power Plant.

Inventors include Mukesh Kumar Verma; Gaurav Anand; Ritesh Kumar; V Gopalakrishnan; Naveen Chandra Bhatt; Jatinder Mohan; and Maneesh Batrani.

The application for the patent was published on June 19, 2026, under issue no. 25/2026.

Abstract: The present subject matter disclosed herein relates to a system (200) of cross over pipe in a steam turbine designed to transport steam from intermediate pressure (IP) exhaust to multiple inlet connections of two or more low-pressure (LP) cylinders, arranged with an IP cylinder. The system manages thermal strains induced by high temperature steam flow through strategic solutions. The present the system of cross over pipe in a steam turbine comprising a cross-over pipe (COP) configured to convey steam from an intermediate pressure (IP) exhaust to multiple inlet connections of two or more low-pressure (LP) cylinders in series with an IP cylinder. The system incorporates plurality of bellows (1, 2, ), stiffener boxes (6), slider supports (7), and inlet bellows (3) to accommodate thermal expansion, absorb thermal strains, and ensure structural integrity. The manholes (14) facilitate inspection, while lifting arrangements aid in safe transport and installation. Additionally, protective measures (8,9) safeguard components, and connections for high-pressure steam leakage and dry air supply enhance operational safety and efficiency.
