Abstract: Disclosed is a contactless vehicle inspection and clearance system (100) configured to authenticate and synchronise underbody and enclosed-compartment inspection data for a vehicle inspection event. The system (100) comprises a vehicle identification interface (102), a ground-based underbody imaging unit (104) having a first secure signing element (106), a vehicle-mounted compartment imaging module (108) having a second secure signing element (110), a session coordination engine (112), a challenge generator (114), a synchronisation controller (116), a verification engine (118), a gate-control state machine (120), and a barrier gate (122). The secure signing elements (106, 110) generate signed image records containing image digests, vehicle and session identifiers, an unpredictable challenge value, timestamps, device identifiers, and sequence numbers. The verification engine (118) verifies authenticity, integrity, freshness, session correspondence, and temporal synchronisation of image records. The gate-control state machine (120) permits opening of the barrier gate (122) only upon validation of a single-use clearance token.
