MUMBAI, India, Aug. 10 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641091003 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology Madras Iit Madras on July 27, 2026, for A Device And A Method For Producing A Selectively Banded Yarn.
Inventors include Gnanamoorthy Rajappa; and Autuppakam Lakshmanachari Pream Kumar.
The application for the patent was published on July 31, 2026, under issue no. 31/2026.
Abstract: The present disclosure discloses a device (100) for selective banding of a yarn (102). The device includes a banding mechanism (104) having a yarn guide (106) and a rotatable banding member (108) arranged around the yarn guide and operated by a first actuator (112) to wind the banding yarn around the yarn at a banding location (110). A yarn pulling mechanism (114) grips and advances the yarn. A tension monitoring mechanism (116) measures the tension of the banding yarn. A control unit (118) verifies that the measured tension lies within a predefined range and operates the first actuator for a predefined duration, thereby forming a localized band having a selected number of windings. Subsequently, the control unit actuates the yarn pulling mechanism to advance the yarn by a selected distance, enabling formation of a plurality of localized bands at desired intervals along the yarn.
