Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a device (100) and a method (200) thereof for performing motion tracking. In one example, the device (100) include one or more skin-contact sensor (104), one or more motion sensors (106) and an operatively coupled controller (108). The skin-contact sensors (104) detect absence of skin contact between the device (100) and user. The controller (108), post detecting the absence of skin contact, automatically transition the device (100) from a wear mode to a non-wear mode. Further, the motion sensors (106) further obtain motion data and determine whether the obtained motion data corresponds to user-associated movement, and in response generate activity information based on the motion data obtained in the non-wear mode. Thereafter, the controller (108) integrate the activity information generated in the non-wear mode with activity data associated with the wear mode to maintain continuity of activity tracking associated with the user.
