Abstract: A Device for Atraumatic Retrieval of Titanium Miniplate Screws During Maxillofacial Hardware-Removal Procedures The present invention relates to a device (100) for atraumatic retrieval of titanium miniplate screw during maxillofacial hardware-removal procedures is disclosed. The device (100) includes a pair of ring handles (110), a ratchet-locking mechanism (120), elongated shaft arms (130), and a pivot joint (132) permitting opening and closing movement of distal portions of the elongated shaft arms (130). An angulated working end (140) is bent relative to longitudinal axes of the elongated shaft arms (130) to provide angled access to seated titanium miniplate screws. The angulated working end (140) configures downwardly extending distal jaw portions (142), each terminating in a modified screw-grasping tip (150). The modified screw-grasping tips (150) include opposing jaws having inner gripping surfaces (152) configured to grip a screw-head margin, a screw-neck region, or an exposed threaded portion. The ratchet-locking mechanism (120) maintains the modified screw-grasping tips (150) in engagement with the titanium miniplate screw during retrieval.
