MUMBAI, India, Aug. 12 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611053194 A) filed by Indian Institute Of Technology, Mandi on April 26, 2026, for A Device For Optical Fiber Microbend Loss Sensing And A Method Of Formation.

Inventors include Shailendra Prajapati; and Dr. Srikanth Sugavanam.

The application for the patent was published on August 07, 2026, under issue no. 32/2026.

Abstract: ABSTRACT A DEVICE FOR OPTICAL FIBER MICROBEND LOSS SENSING AND A METHOD OF FORMATION A device (100) for optical fiber (110) microbend loss sensing and a method (200) of formation of the device (100) is disclosed. The device (100) comprising fixed base (102) and movable element (104) are coupled through snap fit lock (106). The flexible element (112) configured to allow controlled and reversible motion of movable element (104) in response to applied mechanical force (F). Device (100) comprising plurality of corrugated interaction surface (108) which are integrated with inner portion of fix base (102) and inner portion of movable element (104). Corrugated interaction surface act as base on which optical fiber gets positioned. Optical fiber gets induced microbending in response to applied mechanical force (F) which enables to sense physical parameters which used to measure variations of light transmission of optical fiber.
