Abstract: TITLE : A DEVICE FOR SMOOTH LIFTING UP AND LOWERING DOWN OF THE LOAD EXERTING ARM OF AN ERC IN NON-OBTRUSIVE WAY Abstract The system of present invention comprises an ERC lifter, a support block, a back arrester with an adjustable jaw and two bolts. The ERC lifter is moved horizontally on top of the base of a rail. The inclined plane is engaged below one edge of the load exerting arm of the ERC. Rotation of a bolt pulls the ERC away from the rail flange and the inclined plane lifts up the load exerting arm from top surface of the Liner smoothly. The reverse action lowers the load exerting arm of the ERC onto the Liner smoothly. A back arrester pressed to outer vertical surface of the support block and to sides of two adjacent rail slippers stops back sliding of the support block when the ERC lifter is pushed away towards the rail flange. Inclined plane, screw and arm for rotation of the screw generate enough mechanical advantage to move the ERC lifter easily. The system facilitates Toe Load Measurement operation a non-infringing manner in static as well as dynamic conditions.
