Abstract: The present disclosure relates a device (100) for treating exhaust gases which includes an inlet conduit (110A), an outlet conduit (110B), a swirling unit (120) disposed within the inlet conduit, and a mixing chamber (110). The swirling unit is configured to impart a swirling motion to the exhaust gases. The mixing chamber includes at least one baffle plate (130), an atomizer (140) disposed downstream of the at least one baffle plate for spraying an atomized fluid mixture inside the mixing chamber, a perforated plate (150) disposed within the mixing chamber, and a substrate holder (160) positioned downstream of the perforated plate. The substrate holder includes a plurality of substrate members (162) aligned corresponding to a plurality of sets of perforations of the perforated plate. The configuration of the device facilitates the uniform mixing of the exhaust gases with the atomized fluid mixture to ensure efficient reduction of nitrogen oxides (NOx).
