Abstract: A device (200) to absorb crash energy in an electric vehicle includes at least one cross member (204) arranged above a battery housing (202) in a transverse direction of the vehicle, and a battery protection member (206) positioned below the battery housing (202) to prevent transfer of vertical impact forces from below to the battery housing (202). The device (200) comprises a pair of crash members (208) arranged between the battery housing (202) and side sills (102) of the vehicle on two lateral sides of the battery housing (202). An upper side of the crash members (208) is coupled to the at least one cross member (204), and a lower side of the crash members (208) is coupled to the battery protection member (206) to prevent transfer of lateral impact forces to the battery housing (202).
