Abstract: The present invention relates to a die (100) for manufacturing a pipe (116) by an extrusion process, particularly for use as a winding core for paint protection film. The die (100) comprises a first structure (110) having a centrally formed a circular cavity (108) for guiding the pipe (116) of molten forming material. A vertical step (112) is formed on an internal surface of the circular cavity (108) and is defined by a upper end (114-1) and a lower end (114-2) connected through an arc-shaped transition. The vertical step (112) progressively reshapes the material flowing through the die (100) from a circular cross-section into an oval cross-section. A centrally positioned a punch module (102) defines the internal diameter and wall thickness of the pipe (116), while a sizer module (104) stabilizes the oval geometry during initial solidification. The pipe (116) enables uniform film winding and prevents lining marks.
