Abstract: The present invention relates to a digital maximum power point tracker for photovoltaic modules. The invention provides a low-cost microcontroller-based digital MPPT system for photovoltaic modules comprising voltage and current sensors, an adaptive perturb-and-observe algorithm with dynamic step-size control and periodic global scan for partial shading mitigation, and a DC-DC boost converter. The system rapidly tracks and maintains the global maximum power point under varying irradiance, temperature, and shading conditions, delivering significantly higher energy yield than conventional trackers. Technical advancement lies in oscillation-free operation, fast convergence ( 50 ms), and cost-effective implementation suitable for standalone and grid-tied solar applications. Principal use is in solar photovoltaic power generation systems.
