The application for the patent was published on June 12, 2026, under issue no. 24/2026.
Abstract: The present disclosure describes a dog clutch assembly for a transmission assembly of a vehicle, and a method for controlling the same. The dog clutch assembly (114) comprises a first clutch plate (202) connected to a rotating member (108) and movable along an axial direction, and a second clutch plate (208) having sensing elements (212) placed between adjacent second teeth (214). An actuator (218) moves the second teeth (214) between retracted and extended positions. As the first clutch plate (202) moves toward the second clutch plate (208), contact between the first teeth (206) and sensing elements (212) generates a signal. This signal indicates when the first and second clutch plates (202, 208) are properly aligned for engagement, prompting the actuator (218) to extend the second teeth (214) and allow smooth engagement of the first and second clutch plates (202, 208). This ensures reliable and efficient operation, facilitating seamless clutch engagement.
