Abstract: The present invention relates to a Dual-Layer Activated Carbon Filtration System for Domestic Wastewater Reclamation, designed to provide an efficient, economical, and environmentally sustainable solution for treating domestic wastewater. The system comprises a wastewater inlet, an inlet distribution chamber, a first activated carbon layer, a perforated separator plate, a second activated carbon layer, a gravel support layer, a mesh support, a treated water collection chamber, a treated water outlet, and a drain valve. The first activated carbon layer removes suspended solids, turbidity, and coarse organic impurities, while the second activated carbon layer adsorbs dissolved organic pollutants, color, odor, and residual contaminants. The sequential filtration process enhances pollutant removal efficiency, improves water quality, and extends the operational life of the filter media. The treated wastewater is suitable for non-potable applications such as toilet flushing, gardening, landscape irrigation, vehicle washing, and other domestic reuse purposes. The invention provides a compact, low-maintenance, gravity-operated filtration system suitable for households, residential communities, and decentralized wastewater treatment, thereby promoting water conservation and sustainable wastewater management.
