Suganya; and Dr. David Ravindran on July 15, 2026, for A Fermented Synbiotic Composition Comprising Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid-Producing Lactobacillus Fermentum And Xylooligosaccharides For Enhanced Gamma-Aminobutyric Acid Production.

Inventors include Dr. K. Nagamani; Kumaran S; Dr. P. Suganya; and Dr. David Ravindran.

The application for the patent was published on July 17, 2026, under issue no. 29/2026.

Abstract: The present invention discloses a fermented synbiotic composition comprising a gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA)-producing probiotic microorganism, Lactobacillus fermentum, and a prebiotic substrate comprising xylooligosaccharides for enhanced microbial biosynthesis of GABA. The invention further provides a standardized preparation process involving substrate preparation, probiotic inoculation, controlled fermentation, environmental parameter regulation, and product stabilization to obtain a GABA-enriched fermented composition with improved probiotic viability and functional properties. The synergistic interaction between the probiotic microorganism and the prebiotic substrate enhances glutamate decarboxylase activity, thereby increasing microbial GABA production while maintaining product stability and nutritional quality. The fermented composition may be formulated into functional foods, nutraceuticals, dietary supplements, beverages, capsules, tablets, sachets, or powdered formulations. The invention further includes a fermentation system equipped with monitoring and quality evaluation modules to ensure reproducible manufacturing, microbiological safety, and consistent product quality, making the invention suitable for large-scale industrial production of naturally GABA-enriched synbiotic compositions.
