Abstract: The present invention provides a flexible piezoresistive strain sensor comprising a flexible polymer substrate, a screen-printed sensing layer containing a percolating network of single-walled carbon nanotubes, and opposed conductive contact pads electrically connected to the sensing layer. Tensile deformation of the substrate alters inter-nanotube spacing, tunnelling resistance and conductive pathways, thereby producing a reproducible resistance change corresponding to applied strain. The sensor geometry, film thickness and electrode arrangement provide effective strain transfer, stable adhesion and measurable response over a wide deformation range. A fabrication method includes preparing a printable nanotube dispersion, screen printing the sensing layer on the polymer substrate, drying or curing the layer, forming conductive contact pads and electrically calibrating the sensor. A coupled mechanical-electrical model may be used to determine displacement, stress, electrical-potential distribution, normalised resistance and gauge factor. The sensor is suitable for wearable electronics, soft robotics, biomedical motion monitoring and structural-health monitoring. Accompanied Drawing [FIGS. 1- 9]
