Abstract: The present disclosure provides a formulation as a potent topical wound healing and antibacterial cream derived from an essential oil of Elsholtzia griffithii (Commonly known as ‘Lomba’ in Manipur). With the growing concern about antimicrobial resistance and the necessity for effective wound care solutions, the present disclosure harness the therapeutic potential of a specific plant's essential oil. The present disclosure also provides a process for the preparation of the formulation utilizing the essential oil of Elsholtzia griffithii as a key ingredient. The chemical characterization of the essential oil done via GC-MS analysis and other laboratory experiments, including in vitro and in vivo studies, were conducted to assess the cream's wound healing efficacy and antibacterial activity. Parameters such as antimicrobial effects against common pathogens, histopathological properties, and the stimulation of tissue regeneration were evaluated to ascertain the formulation's potential in accelerating wound closure and preventing infections. The formulation’s stability, safety and biocompatibility were also investigated, ensuring its suitability for diverse skin types and wound conditions. The results highlight the promising wound healing potential of the formulation, suggesting its effectiveness in addressing wounds and combating bacterial infections.
