Abstract: A geospatial and hydrological framework is disclosed for assessing water-storage conditions in seasonal river basins by integrating geomorphic delineation, catchment inflow estimation, cumulative demand analysis and evaporation assessment. Satellite imagery and GIS-based digitization are used to map a river corridor and geomorphic units including lateral bars, vegetative islands, active flow channels and valley margins. Annual inflow is estimated from rainfall, catchment area and a runoff parameter, and cumulative inflow is compared with cumulative water demand using a mass-curve approach to identify a maximum cumulative deficit indicative of required storage. Evaporation depth is estimated using Penman’s method and converted into a volume for a defined basin or reservoir surface area. The resulting output combines geomorphic maps, storage-deficit indicators, evaporation estimates and a comparison with existing reservoir capacity to support basin-level water planning. In the Gundal River Basin case study described in the source report, the reported maximum cumulative deficit is 34.07 MCM, estimated required storage is 1.203 TMC and existing gross reservoir capacity is 0.969 TMC. These case-study values require validation of source data and unit conversions before operational or filing use.
