Abstract: This project presents the design and implementation of a Gesture Controlled Smart Jig integrated with a Remote loT Data Monitoring System. The invention addresses the problem of component rejection due to cracks in complex rib-like drilling areas by providing a controlled, repeatable, and operator-friendly jig operation platform. The system employs a camera module interfaced with a microcontroller, preferably an Arduino or Raspberry Pi, to perform real-time gesture recognition. Two gesture types are implemented to control jig movement: a thumbsup gesture to command advancement to the next jig position in the operational sequence, and a stop gesture to immediately halt all movement during emergency or fault conditions. This gesture-based approach eliminates direct mechanical contact with the jig controls, improving operator safety and ergonomics. The jig incorporates self-locating and self-locking clamp assemblies fabricated from Nylon to ensure consistent and repeatable workpiece positioning and clamping across all production cycles, independent of operator variability. A proximity sensor confirms workpiece clamping status before authorizing drill cycle initiation, thereby preventing drilling on improperly secured components. Two servo motors actuate the clamp and guide bush positioning under microcontroller control. Guide bush holding shafts and guide bushes, manufactured from Mild Steel, maintain drill bit positional accuracy throughout the drilling cycle. The system integrates loT functionality through the wireless connectivity of the microcontroller platform, A remote monitoring interface accessible via any network^connected_mobile^or_ciesktop^device_provides-real-time^visibility-into-the number of components machined, individual component cycle time, and current jig operational status. This remote data monitoring capability supports production planning, fault diagnosis, and overall equipment effectiveness analysis by supervisors and engineers at any location. LED indicators or a display module connected to the microcontroller provide local visual feedback to the operator, indicating gesture recognition confirmation, offers a cost-effective, accurate, and scalable smart jig system particularly suitable for precision drilling of complex components in small and medium-scale industries, manufacturing lines, and technical training institutions.
