Abstract: ABSTRACT TITLE: A HYBRID APPROACH FOR TOMATO AND POTATO PLANT LEAF DISEASE DETECTION USING MACHINE LEARNING The present invention discloses a hybrid artificial intelligence framework for automated detection and classification of diseases affecting tomato and potato plant leaves. The system integrates a transfer learning based ResNet50 classification model (400) achieving over ninety nine percent accuracy, a lightweight custom convolutional neural network (500) optimized for edge deployment, and a U-Net semantic segmentation architecture (600) for precise isolation of infected regions. The framework comprises image acquisition module (100), preprocessing module (200) with augmentation (204), feature extraction module (300) combining texture (301, 302) and spectral features (303), ensemble based classification through ensemble integration module (700), and semantic segmentation with skip connections (612, 622, 632, 642). The system supports deployment through mobile applications (801), drones (805), and cloud platforms (802) enabling real time disease monitoring, early intervention, and precision pesticide application.
