Abstract: The present invention discloses a lipid based drug delivery system for poorly water soluble active pharmaceutical ingredients. The system comprises a drug reservoir, digestible lipid carrier phase, surfactant blend, co-surfactant phase, and precipitation inhibiting stabilizer arranged to form fine dispersed droplets upon contact with aqueous gastrointestinal media. The composition maintains the drug in a solubilized or colloidally associated state during dilution and digestion. The system may be provided as a liquid fill, semi- solid preparation, or solid adsorbate for oral dosage administration.
