MUMBAI, India, Nov. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611110908 A) filed by Graphic Era Hill University, Dehradun; and Graphic Era Deemed To Be University on September 16, 2026, for A Low-Noise Air Curtain Apparatus And Method Of Operation Thereof.
Inventors include Dr. Arun Pratap Singh Rathod; and Dr. Abhilasha Mishra.
The application for the patent was published on October 30, 2026, under issue no. 44/2026.
Abstract: The invention relates to air management apparatus for doorways and openings, and more particularly to a low-noise air curtain that forms an effective air sheet with reduced aerodynamic, structural, and motor noise. The apparatus comprises an elongated housing with air intake openings, a removable pre-filter, a blower assembly having a centrifugal impeller driven by a brushless direct current motor, an acoustic plenum chamber lined with sound-absorptive material and provided with Helmholtz resonator cavities, a honeycomb flow straightener, a graduated multi-aperture diffuser plate, and a converging discharge nozzle. The blower assembly is supported on resilient vibration-isolating mounts, and the housing has a double-wall construction with a viscoelastic damping layer. In operation, filtered air is conditioned through the acoustic and flow-control stages, divided into micro-jets, recombined into a uniform air sheet, and discharged across the doorway, typically at about 5 to 10 m/s, with sensor-based variable-speed control for commercial and building-entry separation applications.
