Abstract: The present invention relates to a mechanical pedometer designed for step counting and distance measurement without the need for electrical power. The device comprises a lever (15) mounted on a shaft (8), oscillating with user limb motion, and a ratchet (2) configured to convert oscillatory movement into unidirectional rotation. Said rotation drives an input gear (1), which engages with a sequence of display gears (3, 5, 11) and indexing gears, enabling step counting up to 9999. A fine meter display (12) with an internal spur gear records distance in single-meter increments, while a coarse meter display (13) records distance in tens of meters, both read against a stationary pointer (14). The assembly is enclosed within a casing (17) secured by an endcap (16) and front cap (18). The pedometer operates independently of batteries, is immune to electromagnetic interference, and provides durable, precise, and cost-effective performance in harsh environments.
