Abstract: A method and a system are provided for receiving source code to be implemented in an integrated circuit which has an array of a plurality of circuit tiles that are communicatively coupled using programmable interconnects and a plurality of interconnect tiles. This is represented with aid of a flow control graph. The flow control graph is converted into a primitive graph having a plurality of predefined primitives, wherein each of the predefined primitives includes circuitry for performing at least a portion of an operation defined in the flow control graph. Predefined primitives are mapped in the primitive graph to the plurality of circuit tiles, wherein the plurality of circuit tiles each comprises at least a multiplier and circuitry for performing one additional logical function that can be programmatically selected and connecting the plurality of circuit tiles using the plurality of interconnect tiles, thereby implementing the source code in the integrated circuit.
