Abstract: A METHOD AND A SYSTEM FOR LOCATING A MISPLACED OBJECT A method and system for locating a misplaced object using a mobile device in communication with a Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) enabled tag are disclosed. The method includes continuously monitoring a BLE communication link between the mobile device and the BLE enabled tag, and detecting a disconnection event corresponding to loss of the BLE communication link. Upon detection, the mobile device automatically captures and stores its geographical location as a last known location associated with the BLE enabled tag. In response to a user-initiated search input, the mobile device guides a user toward the stored last known location and scans for BLE signals from the BLE enabled tag. Upon re-establishing the BLE communication link, the system transitions from a location-based guidance mode to a proximity-based guidance mode, wherein variations in received signal strength (RSSI) are analyzed over time to generate directional guidance instructions for locating the misplaced object.
