Abstract: The present invention relates to an adaptive routing optimization system and method for mobile ad-hoc networks (MANETs). The next-generation system employs smart intermediate node traffic sharing and adaptive load balancing methods to increase the routing performance. Other features include route optimization based on congestion awareness, predictive route stabilization, and dynamic traffic redistribution for different node densities. The invention selects intermediate nodes for dynamic classification based on the actual loading conditions of those nodes. Congestion challengers will learn and adaptively redirect traffic to relatively idle nodes to balance congestion, increasing the efficiency of packet delivery. The system continuously computes the adaptive path scores, taking into account various parameters like congestion probability, reliability of routes (path), packet forwarding ratios, among others, and transmission delay. These parameters are the criteria for choosing optimized communication paths. The system makes routing decisions based on continuously changing network conditions by utilizing a feedback-based optimization engine. This enhances network throughput, reduces routing overhead and end-to-end delay, and improves transmission reliability within the structured framework of a dynamic wireless communication environment. The invention is particularly beneficial in ad hoc networks, disaster communication contexts, tactical communications environments, and more generally, other decentralized wireless networking applications.
