Abstract: The present invention provides a biomarker system employing Interferon-induced protein based biomarkers for assessment of effectiveness of treatment for autoimmune disorders. The biomarker system includes an IFIT1 gene expression analysis component, a sample processing component, and data analysis component that work synergistically to measure IFIT1 expression levels in biological samples from vitiligo and psoriasis patients. The IFIT1 biomarker component is configured to measure the gene expression levels of IFIT1 gene, gene variants, allelic variants, protein products, and regulators in biological samples from vitiligo and psoriasis patients. The method involves collecting biological samples, quantifying IFIT1 expression levels, comparing expression patterns between patient and control samples, and monitoring molecular response to assess treatment effectiveness. The invention demonstrates that IFIT1 shows consistent downregulation in both vitiligo (log FC - 2.0011) and psoriasis (log FC -4.768) patients, and with upregulation following therapy.
