Abstract: The present disclosure relates to fuzzy logic-based method for assessing usability of an apartment based on the use value of its bedrooms, hall, and kitchen. The present invention discloses a method and system to assess usability of a layout plan of a dwelling unit in a building wherein the layout plan comprises a plurality of utility areas by receiving, a utility score for each of the plurality of utility areas in the layout plan of the dwelling unit wherein, the utility score is based on plurality of quantitative parameters, plurality of qualitative parameters and a respective area of each of the plurality of utility areas in the layout plan, and the quantitative parameters and the qualitative parameters for each utility area are different and processing the received utility score using a set of inference rules to produce fuzzy output to generate a usability score for the layout plan.
