MUMBAI, India, June 26 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641009965 A) filed by Pysaf Limited on January 30, 2026, for A Method For Dispersive Phase Separation Of Biomass Fast Pyrolysis Oil And Compositions Therefor.
Inventor includes Sanjeev Kumar Gajjela.
The application for the patent was published on June 19, 2026, under issue no. 25/2026.
Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for dispersive phase separation of fast pyrolysis oil (FPO) derived from lignocellulosic biomass to produce a phenolic- and aromatic-enriched bio-crude fraction designated PyXCrude. An aqueous microemulsion containing an ultra-low concentration of organic solvent, dispersed as engineered nanodroplets of controlled mean diameter and narrow size distribution, is contacted with FPO at mild temperature under ambient pressure. Rapid phase separation yields a PyXCrude fraction with substantially reduced water content, reduced metal content, and increased energy density relative to the feed FPO. Phenolic compounds recovered from the aqueous fraction are recycled as organic solvent, enabling a substantially closed-loop process. The PyXCrude product is suitable for use as a sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) precursor and refinery hydroprocessing co-feed. Principal use: sustainable aviation fuel precursor production and refinery co- processing. FIG. 1
