MUMBAI, India, Oct. 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521031578 A) filed by Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Limited on March 31, 2025, for A Method For Enhancing The Reliability Of An Actuator-Based Locking Mechanism Of Charging Gun And System Thereof.
Inventors include Sankha Dey; and Senthilnathan Thangavelu.
The application for the patent was published on October 02, 2026, under issue no. 40/2026.
Abstract: A METHOD FOR ENHANCING THE RELIABILITY OF AN ACTUATOR-BASED LOCKING MECHANISM OF CHARGING GUN AND SYSTEM THEREOF The present disclosure relates to a method (200) and a system (100) for enhancing the reliability of an actuator-based locking mechanism of a charging gun (4). The system (100) includes a controller (1) is communicatively coupled to an inlet socket (2). The inlet socket (2) includes an actuator system (3). The controller (1) in conjunction with actuator system (3) configured to verify the actuator (3a) functionality. The controller (1) is configured to verify the actuator functionality at pre- defined scenarios, such as, but not limited to before initialization of charging, post-charging, at predefined time interval and alike. The present disclosure prevents actuator failures by ensuring actuator functionality before and after charging and enhances reliability, user convenience through automated health checks. Additionally, the system (100) enables proactive failure detection, preventing users from being stranded. Figure 2 is representative figure.
