MUMBAI, India, June 24 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441098034 A) filed by Magesh Jayaraman on December 11, 2024, for A Method For Locating And Distinguishing Earth Fault And Source Mixing Fault In A Floating Ac/Dc Distribution System.

Inventor includes Magesh Jayaraman.

The application for the patent was published on June 12, 2026, under issue no. 24/2026.

Abstract: TITLE : “A METHOD FOR LOCATING AND DISTINGUISHING EARTH FAULT AND SOURCE MIXING FAULT IN A FLOATING AC/DC DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM” ABSTRACT The present invention is to detect earth fault and identify the fault source in dual source AC or DC system with / without the presence of mixing of source and distinguish the earth fault from mixing of source. The distribution system comprises of a signal transmitter/ground current oscillator unit to send various test current pattern with combination of single or variable frequency signal with/without pause signal here after named as test / target signal on the AC or DC floating system. By analysing the return test current signal received by current probe and portable fault pin pointer, it is possible to identifying earth fault and mixing of source in dual source system and more particularly distinguish the faulty source (out of multiple source) even in presence of mixing of source and distinguishing the earth fault from mixing of source and prioritise detection of earth fault over mixing of source and vice-versa based on severity /problems observed and pinpointing the problems and detecting other behaviour of the main unit.
