Abstract: The present invention discloses a method (100) for making a biodegradable straw. The method includes a first step (102) of cutting a palmyra palm leaf or a coconut leaf to the predefined length and width. The second step (104) includes cleaning the leaf. The third step (106) includes removing the shine and smoothness. The fourth step (108) includes soaking the leaf in water for a predefined duration for softening. The fifth step (110) includes applying an adhesive along an edge of the leaf. The sixth step (112) includes wrapping the leaf around a cylinder and overlapping the edge with the adhesive over the other edge. The seventh step (114) includes placing the wrapped leaf in a hollow cylinder to compress and hold the leaf in position for a predefined duration. The eight step (116) includes removing the compressed leaf from the hollow cylinder and the cylinder for forming the straw.
