MUMBAI, India, Aug. 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202531010631 A) filed by Tata Steel Limited on February 07, 2025, for A Method For Optimizing High-Frequency Electric Resistance Welding.

Inventors include Nalin Rakesh Singh; Nikhil Shajan; Kanwer Singh Arora; Manish Kumar Singh; Dhananjay Kumar; and Uttam Kumar.

The application for the patent was published on August 14, 2026, under issue no. 33/2026.

Abstract: The present disclosure provides a method for optimizing High-frequency electric resistance welding (HF-ERW). The method step includes receiving dimensions of a sheet material (101) being subjected to weld by a control unit (201). The control unit (201) further operates a feeding unit and a welding unit (104) to feed and weld the sheet material (101) and produce a weld bead at a weld region. Further, the control unit (201) analyses dimensional parameters of the weld bead, wherein the dimensional parameters of the weld bead being transmitted to the control unit (201) by one or more sensors (104). Furthermore, the control unit (201) predicts at least one of flow angle developed or upset length developed during welding process. Thus, indicating deviation in weld quality based on predicted at least one of flow angle developed or upset length corresponding to analyzed dimensional parameters of the weld bead in the sheet material (101) by the control unit (201). Figure 1 and 4 are a representative figure.
