Abstract: ABSTRACT A METHOD FOR PREPARING CALCIUM OXALATE MONOHYDRATE FROM FISH SCALES The present disclosure discloses a method for preparing calcium oxalate monohydrate from fish scales, the method comprising: a. pre-treating fish scales to 5 obtain pretreated fish scales; b. grinding the pretreated fish scales to obtain fish scale powder; c. preparing a ternary deep eutectic solvent by mixing choline chloride, oxalic acid dihydrate, and a solvent system comprising water, ethylene glycol, triethylene glycol, acetic acid, citric acid, or combinations thereof; d. combining the fish scale powder with the ternary deep eutectic solvent to obtain a 10 mixture; and e. heating the mixture to obtain the calcium oxalate monohydrate. The present disclosure further discloses a ternary deep eutectic solvent composition for extracting calcium from fish scales and a calcium oxalate monohydrate obtained by the process as disclosed herein. 26
